Version [01.01.2021]
The site: https://abac.software/ (hereinafter “the Site”), can set or read cookies and gadget identifiers when the Site is accessed.
General Information regarding cookies and gadget identifiers
1. What is a “cookie”?
An “Internet Cookie” (term also known as a “browser cookie” or “HTTP cookie” or simply “cookie”) is a small file, made up of letters and numbers, that is stored on a computer, mobile data terminal or other device on which a User accesses the Internet.
A cookie is installed by a request issued from a web-server to a browser (e.g.: Internet Explorer, Firefox, or Chrome) and it is completely “passive” (it does not comprise software, viruses and it cannot access information on the hard drive of the User). A cookie stores certain information (for example, the language preferred or settings of a web page), that your browser can retransfer to us when you access the web page again (depending on the lifespan of the Cookie).
Cookies in themselves do not require personal information in order to be used and in most cases, they do not personally identify Internet Users.
2. What are the types of cookies?
There are several types of cookies. Their classification is done depending on their lifespan, role, and source, thus:
2.1 Cookies depending on life span
a) Session Cookies
These are temporarily stored in the folder of cookies of the web browser so that it memorises them until the User leaves the respective website or closes the browser window (e.g.: at the moment of logging in/logging out of a webmail account or social networking).
b) Persistent Cookies
These are stored on the hard drive of a computer or equipment (and in general, it depends on the life span preset for a cookie). Persistent cookies also include those placed by another website than that visited by the User at a certain moment – known as “third party cookies” (cookies placed by third parties) – that can be used anonimously in order to memorise the interests of a User so that advertising as relevant as possible for Users may be delivered.
2.2 Cookies depending on their role
a) Strictly necessary cookies
These types of cookies are necessary for the Internet pages to function properly. The strictly necessary cookies allow you to navigate through the site and to benefit from its features. Without these cookies, we will not be able to offer certain features, such as self redirecting to the least occupied server or memorising your list of wishes.
- Functional cookies
Functional cookies record information related to the choices Users make and they also allow site operators to personalise the site according to a user’s requirements. For example, cookies can be used to save preferences related to a category or segment.
- Performance and analysis cookies
These types of cookies offer Internet site operators the possibility to monitor the visits and traffic sources, the way in which users interact with a web page or certain sections of aweb page.
Information provided by analysis cookies helps operators understand how visitors use sites and then use this information in order to improve the way in which the content offered to users is presented.
- Advertising cookies
These cookies offer the possibility to monitor users’ online activity and to establish user profiles that can be subsequently used for marketing purposes. For instance, the products and services approved by a user can be identified on the basis of cookies, this information serving subsequently to conveying appropriate advertising messages to the respective user.
2.3 First party cookies vs third party cookies
Each cookie has a “responsible” (i.e. website/Internet domain) that places the respective cookie.
First party cookies are placed by the website accessed by a user. For instance, if a user visits Google and a cookie domain placed on his computer is from www.Google.com, then we talk about a first party cookie.
A third party cookie is placed by another website than that accessed by a user; this means that the accessed website also comprises information coming from a third party website – for instance, an advertising banner that appears on the accessed site. Thus, if a user visits Google but the cookie placed on his computer has “wizard.com” as a domain, for example, then we talk about a third party cookie.
2.4 How do targeting and advertising cookies function?
In general, the data on the activity of Internet navigation is gathered and analysed anonymously. If following this analysis a specific interest results, a cookie (small text file used by most sites in order to store certain parts of information useful to make the navigation experience better) is placed on a User’s computer and this cookie determines what advertising the User will receive, which is publicity based on interest.
Publicity based on interest is a way of delivering advertisements on the websites that you visit and to make them more relavant for your interests. Common interests are grouped depending on the navigation activity previously carried out, and users are served only publicity that matches their interests. This way, publicity is relevant to a User.
3. What types of cookies and gadget identifiers do we use?
You are able to withdraw your consent for using cookies at any time, by changing the options from the settings of the corresponding cookies available.
If you set your browser to block necessary cookies too, the Site may not function properly. Also, deactivating other (than necessary) types of cookies could also affect the functioning or your experience in using the Site.
3.1 Necessary cookies
Striclty necessary cookies allow you to navigate the Site and to benefit from its features. Without these cookies, we will not be able to offer certain features.
3.2 Functional cookies
Functional cookies record information related to the choices you make and also allow us to adapt the website in order to fit your needs and demands.
3.3 Analysis and performance cookies
These types of cookies help us to understand how users use the Site. We use this data only for the purpose of improving the Services and the performance of the Site.
Here are some examples on how we use this data:
- Information regarding the section/sections in the Site visited more frequently in order to help us improve the navigation experience of Users;
